The city is seen as a place mixing many and various South African cultures. You will hardly find a reason not to fall in love with this emblematic city. What is special about Cape Town is that it lies between the ocean and a breathtaking mountain. The mountain itself becomes thicker to the south turning into a strip of still wild and uncultivated land forming the Cape of Good Hope, the greater part of which is a national park.


Cape Town offers a many amusements. You just have to choose from the variety of discotheques, wine bars, music cafes and restaurants to enjoy an exquisite cuisine and listen to different music. Downtown Cape Town has the best clubs, such as Rhythm Divine, The Fez, of diverse music where everybody will find something to their liking.

Boulders Beach: Penguin Colony in South Africa

There is no need to go that far to the Antarctic to see penguins. They can be found at an unexpected place where the temperatures are much higher than the Antarctic ones. To meet the South African penguins you will need to stray a little from Cape Town and go to Simon’s Town where Boulders Beach famous for its black-and-white inhabitants is situated. Among the huge rocks and fine sand a colony of 2,000 endangered African penguins lives there.

Hermanus : The Whale Coast

Other bays on the Western Cape coastline attract migrating whales but most of them come back every year to the waters of the Walker Bay and the coastal town Hermanus. From June till November there can be seen hundreds of whales courting, mating, and giving birth, particularly the Southern right whale. Even on the rare days with no whales you can be compensated with white sharks, silly penguins, and seals in a naturally beautiful environment.

Cuisine and Wine

The South African cuisine is successfully called “rainbow cuisine” as the food in this region is a variety of many different influences and cultures. The main food products are the seafood, meat (including game), poultry, cereals, fruits and vegetables. Fruits include: apples, grapes, mango, bananas, papaya, avocado, oranges, peaches and apricots. The fresh seafood is abundant in this region throughout the year: lobsters, calamari, oysters, and all kinds of fish. There are restaurants and cafes of almost all countries in the world. You can choose from Italian, French, German, Dutch, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, and Creek meals. South Africa is famous for its wine production, and Cape Town is proud to offer excellent wines. The most famous wine lands are Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl . They have been producing wine since 1688. Thanks to the warm climate their wines have strong fruity taste and relatively high alcohol content of 11.5-14.5%. The most widely spread red wine grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz , Pinot Noir. You can taste the wine from the Pinotage grape variety which is a cross between Pino Noir and Cinsaut. From the white wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Colombard.

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

Historical attraction. Its name is connected with Prince Alfred, the second son of Queen Victoria. A good place for social contacts, which offers from a mall to markets for works of art and crafts, theaters, live music and other amusements. A big attraction around the wharf is the seals basking in the sun. Waterfront also has the biggest aquarium in the Southern hemisphere.
